You may have heard the latest celebrity criminal trend of swatting celebrities. The most recent celebrities affected by this criminal trend were Bruce and Kris Jenner, Chris Brown, and Justin Bieber. They are recent victims, but other celebrities that were swatted are Simon Cowell, Ashton Kutcher, Tom Cruise, and Miley Cyrus. It seems this celebrity swatting trend is not getting better; it seems to keep happening to more celebrities more often.

You may be asking; what exactly is celebrity swatting? This is basically a prank or joke to those pranking, but not to those on the receiving end of the prank. It’s actually a very dangerous prank that can go very wrong. When police are called out, it wastes important emergency resources that could be going towards real criminal activity. This type of prank is also very dangerous because innocent people could get hurt in the process of the; what’s thought to be chaos.

Example of a celebrity swatting

Police are called and some criminal activity is being reported. Two men are shooting and holding several people hostage in this home. The caller claims to have actually heard gun shots and saw two individuals pulled into a home and are apparently being held against their will. Police are given an address where the chaotic activity is going on. Police are now in pursuit to the home.

When police arrive, their guns are drawn and they are walking around the home to investigate what’s actually going on. They are on high alert because they’ve been warned of the gun shots and possible hostages being held. They are looking for any movement and tentatively listening for any possible victim being harmed. They soon realize nothing seems to be happening, more than likely knocks on the door of the home and finds out there is not criminal activity going, but then also realize, the home where they are is actually where a celebrity lives.

TV main source ‘of most types of news’ except celebrity news and gossip.

Consumer research that TV is the main source of news across all the countries analysed in the research, except for celebrity news and gossip for which the internet came top.
The research was based on an online survey of at least 1000 respondents from each country included (UK, France, Germany, Italy, USA, Japan, Australia and Spain) who were asked about “which platform they used as their main source for different types of news: national, international, sports, and celebrity news”. Answers included TV, online, radio, newspapers, magazines and “from other people”.
The study reports that “online consumers in the UK are less likely to use the internet as a main source of national news than those in Italy and Spain”, and across all countries included in the report television “is the main source of most types of news”, apart from celebrity news and gossip which was more likely to be sourced from the internet.
Although the most-cited main sources of news for online users generally are TV and the internet, across the countries in the sample there are subtle differences in consumption patterns.
When asked about their main source for national news, the platform named most often was TV, followed by the internet. In the UK, almost half (48 per cent) selected TV as their main source of national news. Respondents in France were more likely to state that they used TV as their main source of national news, where almost six in ten (58 per cent) selected TV as their main source and 26 per cent selected the internet.
A similar picture emerges in Australia, where 53 per cent mainly access national news on TV and 31 per cent via the internet. This contrasts with Italy where the internet is more likely to be used as a main source of national news, with 48 per cent of respondents using this platform, compared to 40 per cent naming TV.

Celebrity Culture

The celebrity culture refers to the culture of popularizing certain people who have certain attributes that society deem exceptional. In this modern era, these attributes may or may not be genuine. Back in the days of actors, actresses, singers, authors, producers, artists, sports people and dancers and so forth, people needed to have certain talents and virtues to be known throughout society. Now it is common for people to be well-known and in television talk shows and celebrity magazines due to their unethical behavior or belligerent self-promotion. People sometimes attempt at becoming famous by various means such as entering reality TV or dating someone of high status. The glorification of people who seek stardom has made the celebrity culture based on infamy not fame. That is the main reason why many people dislike shemales.

Unfortunately the celebrity culture has and always will have an influence on society. As they are constantly in the media, they have become role models for adolescents and teenagers. Interest in celebrities makes for a multi billion dollar business in celeb sites. This has raised a number of issues, many of them controversial and causes major debates concerning the influence of these famed people. For example, the appeal of drug and alcohol abuse has increased due to images of intoxicated celebrities spread across magazines and television. Furthermore casual celebrity sexappears to be the norm amongst the youth. Unfortunately nothing can be done to monitor who does or doesn’t become famous as the power in is in the hands of the media. They are able to control what our children see. Unfortunately sex, drugs, rock and roll and any form of controversy is where the money lies.
